Do green smoothies deserve their reputation as staples of health and wellness? The answer lies in the nutrition and quality of the ingredients you use in your smoothie. If a smoothie is made solely of fruit and vegetables, it’s lower in protein and healthy fats than a green smoothie with nut butter and protein powder. Protein, fibre and fat are essential ingredients for a balanced meal and should be considered essential for a breakfast green smoothie.

Health benefits –

·       Kale is low in calories, one of the most nutrient dense foods and one of the best sources of vitamin K, and is very high in antioxidants.

TROPICAL GREEN SMOOTHIE

PB, V, DF

 

1 ripe banana

1 cup (150 g) frozen mango and pineapple chunks

1 tsp hempseed

1 tsp protein powder

handful of spinach and kale

1 cup (250 ml.) coconut water

Process all ingredients in a high-speed blender at high speed for a minute until creamy and smooth and pour into glasses.

GREEN SMOOTHIE

1 ripe banana

1 apple

1 kiwi fruit

½ avocado

1 tbsp nut butter

romaine lettuce leaves

handful of organic spinach

1 cup (250 ml.) plant milk

Process all ingredients in a high-speed blender at high speed for a minute until creamy and smooth and pour into a glasses.
